Why Should I Change My Smile?
We have patients from as far as Switzerland come to our office for our legendary smile makeovers. While each patient is unique, the overwhelming number of new patients who see us for cosmetic dentistry come in feeling shy or embarrassed about smiling. They want a new smile to feel more confident and to tap into their inner and outer beauty.
Here are some of the reasons our patients change their lives by changing their smiles:
- Changing your smile can give you back confidence in your personal life and work life.
- Being confident with your smile will make you want to smile more often. Smiling can improve your mood and reduce your stress.
- People who smile appear to be more likeable and even competent. Smiling is contagious. A smile shows warmth and connection with others.
- Enhancing your smile can also make your mouth healthier by removing old dental restorations that are starting to have leakage and decay underneath.
- We can restore your new teeth to a more functioning bite to reduce breaking and chipping
*Please note that every patient is unique and the above benefits may not apply to everyone.

Complimentary Smile Makeover Consultation
Come and meet our knowledgeable dental treatment coordinator to further discuss your smile goals. We want to give you all of your possible options for treatment that work with your individual smile. You will learn how porcelain veneers benefit the health of your teeth and to the function of your overall bite. Most exciting is learning about what shape and design we can customize for your individual smile. You will meet Dr. Omar Kassam who’s passion for cosmetic dentistry and enhancing your smile is evident from the very first hello! Dr. Kassam will give his professional opinion on what will suit you and he will work very closely with our in-office lab to customize each porcelain veneer. Our goal is to have you leave your consult feeling excited and confident about this journey you are about to take! The best part is you can have a new smile in just 2 weeks!
Dr. Kassam will do a comprehensive evaluation of all your teeth and the muscles surrounding your head and neck. Dr. Kassam will need records of your teeth so we can ensure we are providing you with the best possible care for your teeth. Radiographs are taken to check for cavities and intraoral images of all your teeth will show you visually and in more detail why we suggest certain treatment. We believe in educating you fully. Impressions of your teeth are taken so that our lab can start working on your custom wax up design for the shape of your porcelain veneers.
We like to start this appointment by showing you your custom wax up. At this stage we can easily make small changes to the overall design. Dr. Kassam is a dentist who prefers to do construction without destruction and therefore will preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible when preparing your teeth for the porcelain veneers. Depending on if you have cavities or older restorations on your teeth will determine if you will need local anesthetic. You will leave this appointment with temporaries over your teeth that are in the new shape. These temporaries will be in your mouth for about 2 weeks and is a great “testdrive” to your new smile.
After a few days of having your temporaries we want your feedback! We will discuss with you any changes you would like to see made in your final porcelain veneers. We will discuss length, shape and colour. These changes will all be made and finalized in your final product.
Your porcelain veneers are ready! We remove your temporaries and try in all of your porcelain. This appointment is very important because we want to ensure we make any changes necessary to the porcelain before they are bonded on your teeth. We help you look at the porcelain in various lights to confirm that shade is perfect and our lab artist will be available if any shape changes are needed. Once you are 100% happy with your new smile we will bond in your porcelain. You are now the owner of an amazing fresh new smile that you can feel really confident about!
What Are the Benefits of Smile Makeover
Making over your smile goes beyond the appearance of your teeth. A smile makeover can change both how you look on the outside and your health on the inside. When you correct your dental health, your physical health will also be improved. The types of dental imperfections that can be fixed with a smile makeover include:
- Misaligned teeth
- Missing teeth
- Worn teeth
When you fill in gaps and missing teeth, your ability to chew food and natural function that you might be lacking in improves. Overall, cosmetic dentistry will improve your confidence, your appearance, and health, giving you benefits that can last a lifetime.
How Can Porcelain Veneers Change Your Smile
One of the best ways to improve imperfections in your smile is to have a cosmetic dentist give you porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers work by covering your teeth with a thin layer of glass-like ceramic. The veneer will cover and repair any stains, cracks, chips, or any natural imperfections in your front teeth. First, we will bring you in for a consultation to see what your concerns with your smile are and discuss what your goal for your smile is. Usually veneers will need to be placed on the upper teeth in your smile line, ensuring that they are all the same color and a flattering size and shape.
Your custom-made veneers will feel like your natural teeth and, as a result, you will have a smile with long-lasting results that look completely natural. You can have the perfect smile that you have always dreamed about, increasing your confidence.
Who Designs My Porcelain Veneers?
If you are considering porcelain veneers, you might be wondering how long it takes to get them back from the lab. Fortunately, your custom-made porcelain veneers are made in-house, meaning that you will not have to wait on an outside lab to come back and forth. This also means that any concerns that you might have about the final product of your veneers can be addressed by the lab directly, ensuring that you will get the smile that you have always wanted. Our lab technicians are specially trained in the details of smile makeovers, so they know exactly what size, shape and, colour is right for your veneers.
Will You Have To Shave Down My Teeth?
A common fear with veneers is that you would have to have your teeth shaved down in order to have them placed. Our clinic uses a no reduction technique, meaning we will not shave down your teeth in order to place the veneers. By keeping your natural teeth intact, we preserve the strength and integrity of your teeth. The veneers are thin and strong and will be applied seamlessly over your natural teeth, giving you a beautiful, but natural-looking smile. They are applied using a bonding material that will sit on the tooth surface, but is completely non-invasive. It also means the process can be reversible if so desired.
How Long Will I Have to Wear Temporary Veneers
Before you receive your final porcelain veneers, you will get the opportunity to test drive your new smile. This will let you look in the mirror and show your smile to your friends and family. You will get a chance to see how you feel about your brand-new smile and let us know if there are any adjustments that you would like before you receive your permanent porcelain veneers. Most of our porcelain veneers can be placed about two weeks after your preparation appointment following your design consultation. We will do the design consultation in between the preparation and final placement to confirm you are completely satisfied with your new smile.
How Long Do They Last
Porcelain veneers are incredibly strong and durable. On average, porcelain veneers last about 10 years, but can and do last longer depending on your teeth and the wear and tear that you put on them. We will guarantee our work for 10 years. In the unlikely event that your porcelain veneer breaks, we will fix it for you quickly and at no cost to you.
You will get more life out of your veneers if you take good care of them. You should take care of your veneers as you would take care of your natural smile. Wear mouth guards when doing contact sports and do not use your teeth as tools or for anything that runs the risk of breaking or chipping them.
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers over Composite Veneers
An alternative to porcelain veneers is composite veneers. Made out of a composite resin, composite veneers are made chairside by placing composite material over the top of your tooth to create a veneer. Composite is not as strong as porcelain, giving you an added risk of chipping that you would not have with lab-created porcelain veneers. While the creation process is quicker with composite veneers, the results usually will not last as long.
Composite material is not a good choice for lengthening teeth as it is not strong enough to hold up against chewing. Depending on the amount of veneers you need, porcelain veneers will ensure consistency in your smile line since they are lab created. Having them all done chairside with composite would mean a longer appointment for you as well as composite veneers need to be created individually with you there. Both veneers can be beautiful and give you a brand new smile.
How Will Porcelain Veneers Affect My Smile
Porcelain veneers will only affect your smile in the most positive sense. Your custom-made veneers will be designed to match your natural smile and fit within your smile line. After you have confirmed that your smile is exactly how you want it, following a test drive, you will find that you might be more willing to smile and show off your teeth than you had been before. Many patients experience a boost in confidence because the appearance of their teeth is no longer a concern. Porcelain veneers will enhance your smile and can improve your oral health as well.
How to Take Care of Porcelain Veneers
You will get the most longevity out of your veneers if you take good care of them. This means that you should follow good oral hygiene practices, including brushing twice a day and flossing. You should also have semi-annual checkups to have your teeth cleaned professionally by a dental hygienist and have your teeth, including your veneers, examined by a dentist. You should take care of your veneers exactly as you take care of your natural teeth, including wearing guards when playing sports, and not using your teeth as tools to open things. Most of us are guilty of using our teeth instead of scissors, but to help your veneers’ longevity, do not use them like that.
